About us
The Protect Supply Management campaign is a collaboration between Chicken Farmers of Ontario, Egg Farmers of Ontario, and Turkey Farmers of Ontario. It was created to help Canadians understand how our supply management system works—and why it’s so important for protecting Canada’s food security, local farmers, and the quality of the food we enjoy every day.
Chicken Farmers of Ontario’s over 1,300 family-run chicken farms, located in over 330 communities province wide, represent 34.7% of Canada’s chicken production. The chicken industry supports over 29,000 Ontario jobs and contributes over $5.3 billion to the Ontario economy annually.
Egg Farmers of Ontario represents the more than 500 egg and pullet farm families in Ontario. It is an independent, self-governing organization funded entirely by egg and pullet farmers. Ontario egg farms produce 300 million dozen eggs each year, supporting over 7,000 associated jobs and contributing more than $2 billion in economic activity every year.
Turkey Farmers of Ontario represents more than 140 turkey producers throughout Ontario, accounting for over 40% of Canada’s turkey production. Collectively, Ontario turkey producers and processors contribute over $1.8 billion in economic activity annually, while supporting 7,300 jobs in Ontario.
